On July 16, 2019 the Port Angeles City Council approved a resolution requesting the Clallam County Auditor include a ballot proposition on the November 5, 2019 Municipal General Election Ballot. The ballot proposition asks City residents to vote on imposing a local tax of 0.1 percent sales tax pursuant to RCW 82.14.530, to be used for constructing affordable housing and/or funding the operations and maintenance costs of supportive housing.
State law authorizes the City Council to formally appoint committees to prepare statements to be included in the Voters’ Pamphlet advocating voters’ approval of the measures, and advocating rejection of the measures. Each committee can have up to three members. If you are interested in serving on a committee, please provide the following information to the City Clerk via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or by mailing or delivering a letter of interest to City Hall (321 E. Fifth Street):

- Phone number;
- Email address;
- Committee preference;
- Qualifications to write the statement; and
- Reason you wish to be on the committee.
Interested parties must submit the requested information to the City Clerk. Applications to be considered must be received by 5 pm on August 1, 2019. The City Council is scheduled to review applicants for the committees at an August 5, 2019 Special Council meeting and make committee appointments at that time.
