Port Angeles, WA—A portion of the Olympic Discovery Trail (ODT) has been temporarily closed from the Rayonier Mill site to the Morse Creek Trestle (Four Seasons Ranch) due to a landslide event that occurred on March 24th, 2026. As of now, this section remains unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists to use.
The City is also working on a new ODT Maintenance Contract which will be in place by end of April. Until that time, City of Port Angeles Parks and Recreation crew along with the help of Peninsula Trails Coalition will continue to monitor and work within our capacity to make obstacles, at minimum, passable on foot once the weather subsides.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation. The City is working to address this issue as quickly as possible; updates will be posted to the City’s website and Facebook page as soon as they are available.

Update on March 13, 2026:
After City Council appointments were made on March 3, 2026, the City is seeking application for the remaining vacancies on permanent committees.
February 19, 2026:
The City of Port Angeles has a variety of permanent committees, from beautification programs to public safety services, these advisory groups offer an opportunity for dedicated individuals to weigh in on a range of important issues. Members of City permanent committees are appointed by City Council and volunteer their time to serve and strengthen the Port Angeles community.
Each advisory group is unique in its number of members, roles, duties and term lengths. Terms of office vary between one and four years in length. Most terms of office begin on March 1st in the year in which the appointment is made and conclude on the last day of February in the year when the appointment expires. For example: A four-year term to begin on March 1, 2026, will expire on February 28, 2030.
Each permanent Committee has an opportunity for youth participation. The term for Youth Advisor Members shall be from the date of appointment until the person no longer meets the qualification to serve as a Youth Advisor Member, but in any event not longer than four years. The Youth Advisor applications will be reviewed in the fall of each year and as necessary to fill vacant positions. The Youth Advisor will be a resident of the City, at an age ranging from 14 to 18 at the beginning of the term, a non-voting member.
