[ARCHIVED] Saying Goodbye To A Friend

PAPD Police Blotter 2

Yesterday, May 31, 2022 was Port Angeles Fire Chief Ken Dubuc's last day with the City of Port Angeles before he begins his retirement.   City staff and public safety personnel gathered yesterday at Port Angeles Fire Dept. Station 11 to say goodbye and to thank him for his service.
Chief Dubuc has over 44 years of public safety service.  He began as a seasonal firefighter with the US Forest Service in 1978 and worked as a volunteer firefighter with the Larkspur, CA Fire Dept, graduated from the University of California at Davis, served a stint in the US Navy and later worked as firefighter at the Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, CA.   Chief Dubuc worked for the Gresham OR and Vancouver WA Fire Departments as a Fire Marshal before coming to the Port Angeles Fire Dept. as the Assistant Chief and Fire Marshal in 2001.  He was appointed to  the Port Angeles Fire Chief position in 2012.
Chief Dubuc worked very hard to create partnerships with allied agencies.  Two of his signature achievements - adding three firefighter paramedics to the Fire Department and the creation of the Community Paramedic program - are contributions that will benefit our community well into the future.
One fun fact is that Chief Dubuc and PAPD Chief Smith grew up together in Larkspur, CA and knew each other as kids.   The Port Angeles Police Department thanks Ken for his service and wishes him the best as he rides off into the sunset!
