Stormwater Incentives

Stormwater Green Infrastructure Rebates

Low impact development (LID) techniques are encouraged to improve water quality and aesthetics. The City provides rebates for new development or redevelopment projects that result in less than 5000 square feet of new or replaced hard surfaces, and implements two or more of the following:

  • Permeable pavement
  • Compost amended soils in all disturbed areas not covered by new improvements
  • Rain gardens

Rebates available as funding allows include:

  • Permeable pavement - $1 per square foot, up to a maximum of $1000
  • Composted amended soils - voucher for up to 10 yards of compost
  • Rain garden - up to $1000 for materials to install rain garden

To be eligible, the LID technique must be designed and maintained in accordance with the Department of Ecology's 2014 SWMMWW. Allowing rain water from your roof and yard to soak into the ground helps clean our streams. Pollutants like fertilizers, pesticides, and dissolved metals from cars are removed in the rain garden soil before entering the creeks near our homes.
